Jetty Island is a two-mile long, man-made island with gently sloping sandy beaches and shallow warm waters.
Jetty Island works best in the summer time with thermal winds flowing from the colder waters of the Puget Sound inland to replace the rising warm air above the city of Everett. With the warm sandy beach warming the shallow water with each tide change the water here can be downright warm at times.
Since it is one of the more reliable and safer locations in the area it can get very busy during the summers. For this reason beginners should plan on using the northern most section of the beach to avoid others enjoying the beach. A kayak, canoe, raft or other means of transportation is recommended as the pedestrian ferry does not run until sundown. The island is only a short channel crossing away from the boat launch.
Not everything available on the island, so bring sunscreen and water.
