Overview:
Stretching for 3km, Santa Maria Bay (Sal) offers ideal kitesurfing conditions for beginners, advanced kiters and experts. The sideshore wind from the left, which blows with an average force of 4-5 bft every day, makes the spot an ideal instruction zone for kitesurfing.
To ensure a higher safety level, the beach of Santa Maria has been subdivided into two zones: one for kitesurfers, and one for windsurfers. The windsurfing zone is one minute on foot to the start of the kitesurfing zone, which is slightly upwind. Here kiters of all levels will find a sandy, deserted beach, ideally suited to safe kite launching and landing. This is also the spot where courses are held. Advanced and expert kite surfers will have lots of fun at two further spots. One of them is Punta Leme Bedje, which is only one kilometers upwind and is famous for its crystal-clear, turquoise water and constant wind. The other spot, Kitebeach, which is on the eastern shore of island, can be reached in 10 minutes by pick-up.

Details:
Main wind direction is sideoffshore. Best winds from November mid of June due to the NE trade windsi. Steady 3-5 Beaufort. Usually the wind doesn't get stronger then 6 Beaufort, but therefore very steady like nowhere else in the world.
Usually offshore winds, so be careful. Make sure you're safe, since medical staff and help is not common on the islands.
