Situated on the south western coast of Sicily, near Cape Granitola, it’s been known since ancient times as a very windy area. Mostly known as a wave spot in winter it becomes an excellent all-round fun ground in late spring, summer and early autumn. The spot is big enough for windsurfers and kiters to co-exist without problems, there is a windsurf and kite school.

Details:

The spot works best with West and North-West winds, side shore and side off, this last one offers incredible conditions, a nice long and smooth wave ideal for great down the line wave sailing, starboard tack. The South-west wind comes side-on and it brings mast high waves. East and south-east winds come side shore and side off, port tack.
North wind, offshore, brings excellent conditions especially after it follows a south-southeast storm, more vantageous for windsurfers that do not suffer the gusty offshore winds. South wind is completely on shore.
Best period of the year for wind and waves are from mid October to end of April, waves from 2 to 3 meters with some days up to 4 meters. Late spring, summer and early autumn the conditions are easier going, a daily thermal wind around 4 beau fords, flat crystal-clear water.

Weather: Winter temperatures go from 14 to 20 degrees C°. Only with North and North west winds it drops off around 10 C°. Spring and fall from 20° to 28°, summer over 30°.
