Dear friends kiters !
First of all, congratulations for the guys who build up this website! It's great and very usefull to share and get information about kitesurfing around the world !
I'm leaving my home country (Belgium) next Monday (09/07) for a twee weeks holiday in Creta. More precisely, we will stay in a hotel in the city of Rethymnon.
I would like to know if anyone of you could recommend me good kite spots in this area? I had a look on the web but could'nt find very much information about it. I read there is a 12 km sandy beach east of rethymnon. Is it good for kiting? Is kiting allowed on most beaches in Creta? What about those other beaches (along the North coast of Rethymnon) I found on the web:
- Episkopi beach?
- Gerani beach ?
- Geropotamos beach ?
- Panormo(n) beach ?
- Other?

I'll look for spots in Crete

Hi Damien,
i've been to Crete myself 3 years ago in July but in the south, and didn't find one single Kite or windsurf in the air from Matala to Khora Sfakion. South Crete is amazing, definitely "wild" and dense of spectacular nature. I remember that trip as one of the most emotionals i ever made. You should consider making a trip there on one of those flat spells, if any ;)
About the north, i remember i saw many windsurfs near Rethimnon, but again no kites. Don't know if it was forbidden or what, as i didn't have my gear with me that time (pity!).
I'll try to find some info and add some spots for Crete to the atlas later this evening or tomorrow in the morning, as i'm curious too..stay tuned
Thanks for compliments by the way, we worked hard on the Atlas and it's turning to be a useful for many. This is our biggest satinsfaction! ;)

I see you were spotting Kite beaches near Rethymno in Crete. I will be there 20-26th of July for my friends wedding, and thinking about bringin my kite gear. Let me know if you're still around kiting, or at least your experiences of kiting out there.
