hello Sebastian, October in Florida can be a transition month for wind. You may find wind in some places, but typically the windy season starts in November from my experience. I should add that I have not spent time in Florida between June and October, so other people may have different viewpoints...hopefully some locals will respond. As a beginner you would benefit most from flatwater riding spots. Biscayne Bay (the Kite House at Virginia Key runs a water taxi, but it's a bit expensive). Matheson Hammock is supposed to be a good spot, or the Keys (again you will need a boat or pay someone for service). The Keys can be awesome for flat water, but there are very few places to launch...I can only think of 3-4 beach launch sites between Key Largo and Key West! and they can be sketchy. You could do some more research at the FKA kiteboarding forum http://www.fksa.org/index.php The St. Petersburg/Tampa Bay area has many flat water spots - good for beginners, but that is about 4 hours from Miami. Again, wind might not be very reliable and you will have to tune in to the local wind patterns, sea breezes, etc. In either case be optimistic, bring your kites and try to get in touch with the locals. Please be careful not to launch at restricted spots...there are a lot of beaches where kiting is strictly forbidden, and others where the rules are strictly enforced. good luck and have a great trip Ride Safe!
