30-40 kts at Treasure Island Beach, FL/15 April 07

The wind in St. Pete for the past 3 -4 months has been great for weekend riders as well as for the ride “any timers”. The past 13 weekends have produced some fantastic riding conditions. What are the odds? This 2007 winter/spring season no doubt has been keeping a lot of "9 to 5-ers" super stoked on the weekends and keeping lots of people out of the psycho wards – I hope this has a lasting effect.

And it’s been great wind for lessons too, but sometimes too much work for me (alright I’m not really complaining).

This past weekend we were treated to 12-15 kts SE winds shifting to 20-25 kts SSW wind all afternoon and thru the night on Saturday. Sunday morning brought a massive cold front (but not so cold) with a huge line of T-storms that blew thru by 10AM as the crew slammed some omelets down and discussed the spot for the day. Treasure Island was it and we were lit on 7m kites…why anyone would need more than a 9m is beyond me, but there were a few 12m kites out there dragging their pilots down the beach in the 30-40 knot winds.

Plus this whole week has been chock full of good wind.

Weekend 14! How long can this go on for???...this has been like a dream you never want to wake up from!

and now 15 weekends....sad to say I missed this one in St. Pete while I sit inside hiding from the 40+ kt winds battering Cape Hatteras.

5/18/07: 16 weekends in a row, going on 17 weekends of wind...this has to be some kind of record. It's has been a great May in St. Pete...and I've been sitting in Hatteras waiting out storms??? Go figure
